The JDE, Junior Development Experience, is a game studio consisting of students from DePaul University. Inspired from the former ‘DePaul Gaming Elitists’, our goal is to use the experience as a studio to create games for prospective festivals. Members of the group were individually interviewed of all roles in order to form an all around team dynamic.
Our first day together was April 4th, 2016 after I proposed the studio. I created and overlooked a 20 person sized studio to create games for prospective festivals while being mentored by industry veterans. I created a program where developers would spend their summer working on over 30 prototypes while polishing individualistic skills. From there I organized the studio to work within sub teams for various projects. Soon after we found industry mentors who inspired our studio’s culture to what it is today.
